While a feared Muay-Thai kickboxer called The Kingpin rules a gang-ridden community on the Cape Flats with an iron fist, Clifford Smith harnesses traditional Eastern martial arts for a good cause. Clifford takes young people under his wing, trains them and tries to free them from the clutches of gangs. However, when a loved one is brutally murdered, Clifford's life collapses and he is overwhelmed by a desire for revenge. He feels torn between the Eastern belief in the dragon as a symbol of goodness and happiness, and the Western idea of the dragon as a beast that sows death and destruction. He chooses to break his code of honor and swears revenge.
